Athletes to don police uniform

 Chandigarh: Sukhbir Singh Badal, the deputy chief minister of Punjab has given his approval to appoint five athletes to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who have made the country proud by winning gold medals at the Asian and Commonwealth games. Badal who also holds the charge of Home Affairs and Sports Department, gave the approval on behalf of the Punjab Government. The Players have been given pay scales of 10300-34800+5000 grade pay.
Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal would soon hold a function to hand over appointment letters to the athletes. 

Congratulating the players, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that SAD-BJP government has been making continuous efforts to motivate the players by giving them suitable jobs, hefty cash prizes and by providing world class sports infrastructure. SAD-BJP government had earlier recruited sportspersons like Gagan Ajit Singh, Sunita Rani and Harbhajan Singh into the Punjab Police as DSP.
