Ferrari In India

The Ferrari California made its official debut at the 2008 Paris Show after a series of special previews on the web and during two dedicated events staged in Maranello and Los Angeles at which it received a hugely enthusiastic reception.
The Ferrari California is an exceptionally innovative car whose philosophy takes its inspiration from the spirit and emotions of one of the great Ferraris of the past, the 1957 250 California, a superbly elegant open top car designed for the track, which has, over the years, come to symbolise not only superior sportiness and performance but also exclusivity, craftsmanship and faultless sophistication.
This new car joins Ferrari's 8-cylinder range which is made up mostly of very high performance models. It also flanks the 12-cylinder flagship Ferrari 612 Scaglietti in the Grand Tourer category. The Ferrari California is a car with the track in its DNA. It is enormously innovative and will more than fulfil the expectations of even our most discerning clients, offering breathtaking driving pleasure and fun behind the wheel as well as extreme versatility of use and in-car comfort. It is available exclusively as a convertible with retractable folding hard top in either a two-seater version with a traditional rear bench or in the 2+ version which sees the rear bench equipped with seating for one to two passengers.
In line with Ferrari tradition, this model positively brims with innovative features. In addition to its retractable hard top and the aforementioned original 2+ concept, the new Prancing Horse car also offers: a new direct injection V8 engine, a 7-speed gearbox with steering wheel-mounted F1-style paddles coupled with a new dual clutch, a new suspension system (double wishbones at the front and multilink at the rear), the new evolved F1-Trac traction control system and Brembo brakes with CCM (carbon ceramic material) discs as standard (this latter feature is shared by the other models in the current range).

Strauss says third test not in doubt despite riots

Strauss says third test not in doubt despite riots

England captain Andrew Strauss has been given no indication that the third test against India will not go ahead as scheduled in Birmingham on Wednesday despite inner city rioting and looting.
The violence started in the north London suburb of Tottenham on Saturday and spread to the midlands city of Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol. England's friendly soccer international against the Netherlands at Wembley on Wednesday has been called off.
"A few of the guys were out earlier yesterday but we got advice from our security manager to come back to the hotel as there were disturbances in the city centre. Players have been advised to stay in the hotel for now," Strauss told a news conference on Tuesday.
"We have not been given any indication that the match is not going to go ahead. There are bigger things going on in the country at the moment but to say it's affected us would be wrong. Our security manager is there for a reason and he has to decide if it is safe for us to play cricket and at the moment he says it's 100% safe. We don't feel unsafe."
Strauss said the match at Edgbaston was an opportunity for cricket to put a feelgood factor back into the news pages. England, who can overtake India at the top of the world rankings if they win the four-test series by a two-match margin, won the first two games easily.
"Clearly, it's not our proudest moment as a country. When you watch those things on the TV it's horrific but they haven't affected our preparations for this test match," he said.

Get Sneijder: Cantona tells United

London: The former Manchester United great Eric Cantona has sung the praises of the Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder, insisting that the 27-year-old attacking midfielder is exactly what the Old Trafford club needs.
Goal.com revealed exclusively last week that the Dutchman has told Manchester City he would like to join the Red Devils, but the player's wage demands have continued to hold up a deal.
Now the former Red Devil has showered praise on Sneijder by likening the ex-Real Madrid man to himself.
"Sneijder is one of the best. He will be great for the team," Cantona told The Mirror.
"He is what Manchester United needs. There's no-one like him right now. He's strong. Sometimes he reminds me of myself."
Cantona spent five years at Old Trafford between 1992 and 1997, winning four Premier League titles and two FA Cups.

Federer trusts himself to thrive past age 30

New York: Roger Federer will turn 30 next week, but the Swiss winner of a record 16 grand slam singles titles said on Wednesday he will not pause for reflection since he is too busy plotting for more tennis success.
Federer will spend his birthday on Monday in Montreal at the Rogers Cup tournament, where adoring fans have serenaded him in the past to mark the occasion.
"I'm looking forward to turning 30, excited to see how the Canadians are going to celebrate my birthday this time around, because sometimes they start singing 'Happy Birthday' during my match," Federer told reporters during a conference call.
Federer said he draws inspiration from tennis greats who enjoyed longevity. "Like (Andre) Agassi, Jimmy Connors, Ken Rosewall, Rod Laver, it's very inspiring to see what they were able to do for a very long period of time.
"My planning has always been long term. I'm looking forward to how much more I can achieve from this point on."

Sehwag, Zaheer slog it out in wet Northamptonshire

The Indian team woke up on Thursday morning to what was not a very pleasant sight.
After days of bright sunshine, it was pouring, putting paid to hopes of having some practice, even if it was an optional session.Having suffered successive thrashings at Lord's and Trent Bridge, the Indians were hoping to use the two-day match against Northants, captained by South African international Andrew Hall [ Images ], to brush up their skills before the all-important third Test at Edgbaston (Birmingham) next week.
The captain and the coach will be relying a lot on Sehwag and Zaheer to affect a turnaround. The only deterrent to their hopes being the fickle English weather, which, having affected the practice session to a considerable extent, is threatening to affect the two-day game as well.
With rain being forecast for the next 48 hours, the lone practice game ahead of the Edgbaston Test might just be the preparation the visitors don't need.
Blame it on bad planning, yet again!
